Starting salary: $45,000 (effective July 1, 2021); upon completion of Police Academy and Field Training salary is increased to $49,000

Qualifications

Be 21 years of age on hire date
Have a high school diploma or GED
Pass a physical examination, including vision correctable to 20/20
Successfully complete the Law-fit Physical Agility course
Meet minimum requirements for color vision test, without corrected lenses
Possess a valid Virginia operator's license
Be a United States citizen
Be of good character and reputation as established by a background investigation
Pass all pre-employment testing
Agree to a 5-year tenure agreement

Starting salary: $38,000 (effective July 1, 2021)

Qualifications

Be at least 18 years of age at the time of hire
Have a high school diploma or GED
Be able to speak clearly and distinctly, multi-task, hear, have vision skills and operate a computer keyboard
Be a United States citizen or lawful resident for 10 years
Have a valid Virginia operator's license
Be of good character and reputation as established by a background investigation
