Each year, Division of Capitol Police officers serve thousands of state employees and members of the general public. In some cases, individuals may wish to acknowledge the employees involved.
When you receive service from our division that you feel is worthy of a commendation, we would like to hear about it. The Division of Capitol Police documents all commendations received from the public. Our policy is to forward commendations to officers and their supervisors so that the officer may be recognized. If you have a commendation, you may send it to us in person, by letter, by telephone, or by using the link at the bottom of the page. Please include all the information you can remember such as the employee's name, the date, time and circumstances of the outstanding service. The employee will be notified of your commendation, as will his or her supervisors, and a copy will also be placed in his/her employee file.
You can either fill out the online form or download a pdf form to commend a Capitol Police employee, or you may prefer to phone in a commendation to the Chief's Office at (804) 786-5035. You may also call the Communications Center at (804) 786-2568, and ask for the on-duty supervisor.
