The Division of Capitol Police is committed to supporting a work environment that promotes diversity and equity in all areas. We will work to ensure equity and inclusion in the areas of employee engagement and hiring and retention, and we must engage with diverse stakeholders across Virginia to establish and increase inclusive excellence. By collaborating with our employees, and uniting with our Capitol community, we will work together through dialogue, organization and implementation of strategy to achieve our mission and maximize the full benefits of diversity, equity and inclusion.
Women In Policing
We are proud to take a leadership role in the 30x30 Pledge, a nationwide initiative to increase the recruitment, retention and promotion of women in policing. The 30X30 Pledge is a framework for how Capitol Police and other law enforcement agencies can improve the representation of women in the profession, partly by establishing an initial goal of having women account for 30 percent of a department’s sworn officers by the year 2030.
